    1717Encoding and interlacing support in Mesa are incompatible because of the data layout in GPU memory.  By default, frames are separated into fields and interlaced video is supported but encoding is not.  Set the environment variable VAAPI_DISABLE_INTERLACE to 1 to be able to use the encoder (but without any interlaced video support).

     19Encoding parameters using the option `-compression_level` can be passed on since Mesa 22.3.0 with VCN (Video Core Next) hardware.
     20These parameters can enable a preset (speed/balanced/quality), pre-encode or VBAQ. There is a certain impact on encoding speed in doing so.
     21* Example values are:
     22* `-compression_level=0` -> speed preset only.
     23* `-compression_level=1` -> balanced preset with pre-encode and VBAQ enabled.
     24* `-compression_level=3` -> balanced preset only.
     25* `-compression_level=5` -> quality preset only.
     26* `-compression_level=11` -> balanced preset with pre-encode enabled.
     27* `-compression_level=19` -> balanced preset with VBAQ enabled.
     28* `-compression_level=29` -> quality preset with pre-encode and VBAQ enabled.
