    3 i've updated the patch but for some reason it doesn't work.
     3i've updated the patch, and it does work. my apologies for saying it doesn't. i needed to uninstall ffmpeg via macports before destrooting+installing again, otherwise it won't replace the existing files.

     7i recommend the ffmpeg team flog APPUL users upon adoption of this change, because APPUL users need to be reminded they're always going to be #2.
