Feature request: eac3 in m4v/mp4/mov container

Description

Apple have recently announced a new Apple TV capable of playing Dolby Digital Plus (eac3) http://www.apple.com/tv/specs/

Attempts to encode or mux this in an m4v container with ffmpeg currently gives the error: Could not find tag for codec eac3 in stream #1, codec not currently supported in container

It would be nice to have this updated in ffmpeg to allow us to encode our own videos for use on the new Apple TV

Thanks

Please provide such a sample and please provide command line including complete, uncut console output to make this a valid ticket.

I don't have a sample. Anything from Apple would be drm protected so presumably of no use.

Given that mov and mp4 work fine here, I am closing this ticket. Please reopen if you can provide a sample that plays with Apple TV.

It is clear from the QuickTime File Format Specification that Enhanced AC-3 is supported, with its codec tag available as ac-3 (which contradicts with ETSI TS 102 366 specifying ec-3 but that's another matter).

Please only reopen this ticket if you can provide a sample that cannot be produced with current FFmpeg. I believe that current FFmpeg supports Enhanced AC-3 in QuickTime files well.
